
A new public charter school, Pennsylvania STEAM Academy Charter School is slated to open in Harrisburg in September 2019. As a public school, this STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) school will be offered without fees or tuition to students. The school will focus on providing hands-on opportunities to learn and explore various careers and pathways in math, science, technology, engineering and the arts.
Pennsylvania STEAM Academy Charter School will offer Kindergarten, First and Second grades starting in September 2019, and will add a grade each year until it reaches K-8 enrollment. Future high school level 9th-12th grades will also be available as the school grows.
Along with the STEAM programs, emphasis will be placed on developing and strengthening literacy, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
In addition, Pennsylvania STEAM Academy Charter School will offer:
- Small class sizes with two adults per class
- School breakfast, lunch and snack programs that focus on healthy eating
- Before and after school programs as well as summer programs in coordination with community programs
